Hail Merry IS The Giveaway!

June 1, 2011 by foodfash

I first fell in love with Hail Merry snacks last summer on the last stop of my two week, whirlwind workation (work mixed with vacation?) in Dallas.  The tarts were yumtastic, so I wasn’t surprised when I heard their blonde macaroons were up for a VegTimes Foodie Award.

Their promotions department sent me a kind note a few weeks ago thanking me for my continuous support and informing me of the above mentioned nomination.  I promptly voted, but also wanted to do something more to help this used-to-be-local-for-me Dallas product gain exposure.  Aha, a contest!  And a really good contest at that!

The winner of the Hail Merry giveaway will receive:

  • One Bag of Blonde Macaroons
  • One Bag of Chocolate Macaroons
  • An “Eat Raw, Love Longer” Tee
  • A Hail Merry Tote

Contest Entry Instructions:

1.  Vote for Hail Merry Blonde Macaroons in the Raw Treats Category and leave a comment on this post indicating you have done so (It’s #19 if you’re in a hurry)

2. Follow me on Twitter and tweet “I entered to win @HailMerrySnacks  and you should too! https://foodfash.com/?p=2168″ and then leave a comment on this post indicating you have done so.  (If you’re already following me on Twitter all you have to do is tweet and comment on this post)

3.  Follow Hail Merry Snacks on Twitter and leave a comment on this post indicating you have done so.

4.  Follow me on Facebook and leave a comment on this post indicating you have done so. (If you’re already following me on Facebook all you have to do is comment on this post)

5.  Follow Hail Merry Snacks on Facebook and leave a comment on this post indicating you have done so.

The contest will run between now and 8PM EST on June 6th.  Please leave a separate comment for each entry as each individual comment represents a number and a random number generator will be used to select the winner.

The winner will be announced on Tuesday, June 7th.

Best of luck to you all!

Makin’ Banana Pancakes

May 22, 2011 by foodfash

Yesterday was my first time craving and making banana pancakes.  I loved them so much, I made them again today.  There ain’t nothin’ wrong with a banana pancake weekend!

Luckily, I had a stash of frozen bananas in my freezer, so all I had to do was thaw and mash into the batter.

FoodFash Banana Pancakes

1/2 Cup Gluten-Free Pancake Mix

1/2 Cup Almond Milk

1 Egg

1 Banana

Mix together the pancake mix, almond milk, and egg in a bowl.  Add the banana and mush until it is fairly distributed.  I heated my skillet over medium heat and sprayed with olive oil cooking spray.  You can tell they’re ready to flip with the batter starts looking dried out and bubbly.

In all honesty, they were so good solo, but I couldn’t resist the urge to slather something in Earth Balance.  I also drizzled pure maple syrup on one of the cakes just for kicks.

Total Tostacos

March 15, 2011 by foodfash

It all started when my long lost Katie friend called me last night to catch up on current events.  As we were about to hang up she mentioned she was on her way to Mexican dinner, which caused an instant Urban Cantina craving on my end.

I was on a mission to find a dinner partner, but fifty percent of the calls I made went straight to voicemail.  Dead phones?  A sure sign that the weekend was entirely too eventful for those of us pushing thirty!

I settled on the idea of take-out, but my plan came to a screeching halt when I realized my car was still parked at Bailey’s from the night before.  How did I not realize this before 7 PM??

Rather…  How did I not realize this before 8 PM?  Time change, doh!

A day later, my cravings were still in full effect.  I secured Urban Cantina dinner plans with Robbie for Tuesday night, but…  I wanted Los Frejoles tacos (sans cheese) ASAP.  Patience has never been my strong suit.

I topped toasted corn tortillas with rinsed black beans, romaine lettuce, sliced avocado, and fresh(er) salsa.  If salsa is in the refrigerated section and I can identify all of the ingredients at first glance – it’s fresh enough for me!

I filled them a little on the full side, they were total tostacos (tostada+taco), but tasty tostacos nonetheless.  Sunday night fail, Monday night win!
