When James told me that a friend of ours was celebrating his 30th birthday, 70’s themed, at United Skates of America, well… it didn’t take much convincing. I had touched up my skating skills last month with Laura and couldn’t have been more ready to roll around, in costume, on a Saturday night.
The first question I asked as we were standing in line to enter was “Is the snack bar open?”. Ironically, the skating rink snack bar was of my favorite places to hang out two decades ago as well. I downed some nachos and headed to the dance floor skating area.
Katie was more excited about reuniting with her childhood friend, Skate-A-Saurus. Could she be more excited? I’m thinking this will be one of her greatest memories of twenty twelve.
And then there was the money machine. I climbed on in (still on skates) and gave it a go. Katie found the power button and we were in business. Crumpled, mini dollar bill business.
Katie and I took advantage of almost every ounce of available skate time. I think another Thursday night adult skate is in my three-week Tampa future!
