Hello FoodFash faithful! I’m Justin. After a very flattering post from your favorite herald of whats good in healthy food and hip fashion I am going to inturrupt your regularly scheduled blog with a little music post. Maybe once, maybe once a month, this is a test to see what flies with the boss as well as the readers (that’s you). For most of those across our fair hemisphere it is the beginning of spring, however, here in St. Pete (and out in Austin where Kristin is) that sadly means close to nothing. We go from mild winter to “OMG it’s hot” in a matter of weeks. In preparation for this impending change I am already hunting for summer jams. Just recently my brother and I attended the Gasparilla Music Festival and (for an incredibly cheap $30) were bombarded with some of LAST years best summer soundtrackers. Best Coast and Dr. Dog were stunning live and really got me pumped for more great live music! In the mean time lets get at some early tunes that are going to clear out those winter cobwebs.
HAIM delivers their sisterly collaboration of pop/R&B vocals with a little retro and a lot of cool. They have an excelent EP out but it’s this crushingly solid single “Falling” that is going to get summer off to a good start.
HAIM – Falling

Next a band, who I know Kristin is a fan of, has three fantastic albums (the most recent came out Feb 11th and features this just plain danceable gem).
Foals – My Number

Lastly for now in a more etherial but still good vibing vein Pacific Air, who’s debut album comes out in May but get their EP to tide you over. It’s ideal “laying out” music. Just listen!
Pacific Air – Float

If this gets a few thumbs up maybe FoodFash will have me back. But, in any case, hang in there knowing summer is just around the corner! Thanks, and now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
