Adventure Begins in the Kitchen

Brunch With A Bang

November 7, 2011 by Kristin

With a pantry more bare than I could ever imagine, I still haven’t attempted to cut back on my fine, fatty dining.  Perhaps I’m prepping for the holidays?

I think it’s more likely that after a dairy downward spiral, I always need one last bang of a Sunday meal before starting fresh on a Monday.

Robbie picked Bailey’s, the perfect spot for pure glutton.  We sat outside on a glorious mid-70’s fall, Florida day and ate every last bit of every little thing on our plates.

See you tomorrow veggies!!

The Park And The Pie

November 6, 2011 by Kristin

I can tell you with complete certainty that going to the park with my family and taking pictures of this little munchkin has quickly become the most ideal way to spend a Saturday.

The Pie ended up eating the stale crackers intended for luring squirrels, but it made for a good laugh and an even sweeter picture.

And even though there weren’t nearly as many squirrels as last time, there were still plenty of swings to be swung and ladders to be climbed.

Seriously, no fear.

My uncle teased me about taking so many pictures (I ended up with 160-ish), but after weeks and weeks of photographing food, having the sweetest little girl on the planet as my subject was a welcomed change!

More Touristness

November 2, 2011 by Kristin

Meeting Emily for a weekday lunch today was so much fun! Even though 99% of me wanted to peer pressure her into skipping work and heading over to the Anthro accessory store with me for the remainder of the afternoon… Having the ability to lunch date with a long-time bestie and go back to the hotel for an extended nap was exactly what I needed.

But before that, I had a very touristy morning with my co-workers. We started out at the White House.

Walked over to the Ford’s Theatre.

Followed that up with a solid dose of documentation at the Archives.

And ended the morning at the Air and Space Museum. It was four hours of American history overload!

Have you ever been to DC? What is your favorite site to see?

LA Conference, In Pictures

October 26, 2011 by Kristin

Pre-Breakfast Line at Starbucks

Breakfast: Starbucks Oatmeal & Grande Cafe Americano

Lunch: Mushroom and Roasted Veggie Panini with Fruit

Dinner: Spaghetti Squash with Veggie Meatballs and Broccolini

Post-Dinner Entertainment: Work PC Hooked to Hotel TV

Day one of the ULI Fall conference is over!!  I arrived at the LA Convention Center at around 7 AM, approximately two hours too early, which was a HUGE bummer.  Huge.  Especially since I stayed up wayyyy too late last night playing Rock Band with Ariel & Co.

The last hour or so of the conference, all I could think about was heading back to the hotel, changing into PJs, and using my nerd skills to hook my computer up to the TV to watch loads and loads of mindless tele.  And that, is exactly what I did.
