Twenty Twelve Hair

January 5, 2012 by Kristin

Although I miss my red locks on occasion, twenty twelve looks like it’s going to be another blonde year. And after a total short chop last April (to fix terrible layers that I had received a few months prior), my hair is finally at a length that one would consider “long”.  Now that I have a solid foundation for a new style, it’s time to start planning my twenty twelve hair!

Seeing red/strawberry hues amongst Calvin Klein’s runway looks confirmed that I want to keep the area below the crown my natural color and resist the urge to go beyond a partial highlight.

As far as length goes, I want as much of it as possible!  It will probably take another two years to grow my ideal length naturally, but I’m becoming more comfortable with the idea of clip-on extensions.

I love Rachel Zoe’s waves.  I’ve become a pretty solid user of the clipless curling iron, but there’s always room for improvement.  I think as I get more length, the weight of the hair will help.

And perhaps by the end of the year I’ll be ready for a blonde exit strategy.  I’ll have to figure out a way to lighten my roots just a tad to achieve an Ombre-esque look that isn’t too drastic

And when I’m tired of the blonde, I think the model on the left’s color will be a perfect, demi-permanent transition shade that will allow my natural color to grow in.

What are your thoughts on hair extensions?  Do you bring photos with you to your stylist?

Update:  After writing this post, I went out and purchased extensions that happened to match my hair perfectly.  You can see the Instagram picture here.
