Happy Memorial Day!!

Bastrop River Company

What a weekend it’s been so far!  From group dinners to 90s rap dance parties to hitting baseballs in the park to eating the best chicken wings and pizza in town – one might have thought we accomplished it all by Saturday night.  But as the clouds in Austin cleared out and made way for super Sunshine on Sunday, we packed our coolers and headed southeast to the Bastrop River Company.

In addition to coolers filled with beers and snacks, we also brought a couple Dickie Boards.  Four people floated on tubes and two of us paddled most of the way.  At one point, Brett (a paddler) roped himself to all of the tubes and toted our herd down the river.  I can’t tell you how amazing it felt to be back on a board!

When we arrived back on land, we made sure to get plenty of pictures of Justin’s ridiculous America outfit Dickie Boards in the park.  And after lots of photo wonderfulness and hanging with the Bastrop River Company guys for a bit, we headed back to town.

I hope everyone’s Memorial Day is filled with lots of family, friends, and appreciation for what this day represents!

Homemade Pizza & @DickieBoards

This past weekend, I invited the boys behind Dickie Boards over for some homemade pizza and nerd Q&A.  I prepped my go-to pizza dough recipe  (the original) and went shopping for classic toppings while the dough was doubling in size.

We worked on graphics, listened to old recordings of the Rolling Stones playing with Muddy Waters, drank leftover Cheer Beer (does beer go bad??), and devoured all of that pizza.  Scratch that, Brett and Dickie devoured all of that pizza.   Bottomless pits, I tell ya!

Be sure to show Dickie Boards some love in the virtual world!  You can follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to keep up with the latest #enjoytheride happenings on the lake.

Fourth Recap

July 5, 2012 by Kristin

Hope everyone had a wonderful ‘Merica day!  My day got off to a super slow start, but I woke up knowing I had to pull it together to wear my 4th of July bathing suit, drink some American beer, and most importantly…  Test out Dickie Boards!!!

Ever since I moved to Austin in February, I’ve heard Dickie (pictured above) talking about his new paddle board company.  I had a mini idea what they’d be like, but didn’t know entirely what to expect.

At first glance, I was already excited!  Aesthetically, they were nicer than any board I had ever seen.  Bamboo boards and paddles with color coordinated grips and rims?  Dickie Boards are sharp!  But the best part was the ride.  They are shorter and thinner than the boards I’m used to, which meant you had a ton more control of the board.  I loved using my core and slight bends in my knees to weave through boat traffic rather than back paddling like an Austin Powers champ.  I can’t wait to ride these boards all summer!

Congrats and thank you, Dickie!!!
