Adventure Begins in the Kitchen

Bamboozled, In Pictures

February 8, 2012 by Kristin

Breakfast:  Peanut Butter on Sprouted Wheat Toast

Lunch:  Bamboozle Savory Tofu Banh Mi

Dinner:  Bamboozle Vegetarian Pho

It was very apparent as I pulled the last slices of sprouted wheat bread out of the freezer this morning, toasted them, and spread them with peanut butter, that I was going to be a very hungry girl today if I didn’t order some kind of take-out.  Thankfully, Bamboozle has a $20 minimum for delivery, or else I would have never considered ordering dinner at the same time as lunch.  Because of this freakishly abnormal foresight, I was able to run a boat load of errands, get my hair highlighted one last time in Tampa (I’m going to miss Helena SO much!), and almost finish packing.  The movers are coming in the morning and I have a few random things that I wish would just pack themselves!

Sealing The Deal

January 15, 2012 by Kristin

I officially signed a lease for a place in Austin today!!  After a week (that seemed like a month) of potential roommate talk, living alone seemed like the right-est thing to do.  I took a courtesy tour of the apartment complex, knowing I had no other option in my location of choice, and signed my little heart away.

Immediately after signing, the apartment manager handed me a little red keychain and a list of places that offer specials to residents.  For real??  We didn’t waste any time before walking over to TNT (Tacos & Tequila) for wild mushroom queso, jalapeno cocktails, smoky guacamole (made table-side), and lots of tacos.

See you soon 78703!!!

Thirsty Planet

January 15, 2012 by Kristin

As soon as Skylar let me know that she and her roommate signed a bunch of us up for the Thirsty Planet beer tour, I couldn’t wait.  I love tours.  I can’t wait to play the “new girl” card when I move to Austin and tour everything and anything.

Most of us chose the seven dollar deal where you get three pints and a souvenir glass.

Skylar will have to hold on to this gem until the move next month!!

We toured the brewery, asked a bunch of ridiculous questions, and enjoyed our beers in the sunshine.

I can’t get over how many people I’ve met over the past few days.  Everyone here is so down to welcome a new friend to their circle!

What do you think are the most helpful things to do to meet new people in a new city?

Leisurely Lunching

January 7, 2012 by Kristin

My friend Katie flew in today for our friend Ryan’s 30th birthday bash and we took it upon ourselves to have a leisurely day before the festivities begin.  Lunch at noon?  Healthy?  Yes.  Oh how I love the new year!

And as much as I love the new year, I love Restaurant BT even more.  It’s the freshest fancy in town.  We know this.

We found a little table outside, caught each other up on the latest happenings, and sipped on refreshing cucumber water.  I dominated the conversation with news that I had just submitted an application for an AWESOME townhouse in downtown Austin.  Fingers crossed they accept the offer!

I stuck with my usual, the tofu Vietnamese salad with a side of hoisin and sriracha.  Katie went for the chicken pho, which looked flawless.

We cleared our plates and headed over to my friend Griffin’s boutique to continue with the lady of leisure theme we had not so accidentally fallen in to.

Hope your weekend is filled with the good stuff!
