I fear that my venturous streak will come to a screeching halt if I continue to have moments like tonight. One person ahead of you in the seafood line should not deter a normal person from waiting. One person ahead of you in line should not result in this purchase.
But it did. Reading “mussels or clams” on the front of the package should have translated to “put this back and walk away”. But it didn’t. And instead of ditching the creature mix when I couldn’t think of a darn thing to make with it, I sketched on over to the ethnic aisle and tossed some curry sauce in my cart. I have to believe my brain was preoccupied at that point.
Thank goodness I redeemed myself in the produce department. Broccoli and bok choy? Safety!
I tossed (or strategically placed) the critters and veggies in the pan until everything was fully cooked and then added the sauce.
I bravely picked out a piece of octopus to get an idea what I was working with. Ewww! I was for sure going to be picking around the octopus and adding it to my list of “restaurant only” foods. I added fresh basil and additional chili paste and smushed the rice.
I sat the plate on the coffee table so I could grab some water. I feel as though sometimes I subconsciously plan my own “told you so moments” and this is why…
I had originally planned on making something out of “Vegan with a Vengeance“, but bundled myself in blankets and chatted on the phone last night in lieu of cracking it open. I told me so?
Honestly, there could be a next time with this dish. I think more veggies, fresh seafood, and red curry sauce (I used green) would do the trick.

I know! In 48 hours I had octopus ceviche, ran across your blog, and tried to make my own. How did yours turn out? I’m wondering if I only liked the ceviche octopus because of all the lime?

Despite the mishaps, this still looks pretty good! I am all about anything with brown rice, broccoli, and curry! I just found your blog, and I’m glad that I did. Thanks for sharing.
