I have to say cumin does wonders and can be used through a variety of cuisine. It’s so versatile and adds a great earthy, smokey flavor to dishes.

If I had to pick a *star* I would choose saffron. Though, I’m very careful cooking with it as I don’t want to accidentally screw up a recipe and waste such an expensive spice!

  2. Amber Knight says

    March 11, 2013 at 8:11 am

Red pepper flakes! Also, I had no idea the shelf life of spices was 6 months. Yikes!

  3. Lindsey Manz says

    March 11, 2013 at 8:15 am

My favorite spice is Garlic powder. And I’m pretty sure every spice I own is expired if they only last 6 months! I better win Kristin!! Make it happen. 🙂

The spice that is top of mind for me lately (a.k.a. I’m obsessed with) is Indian curry. Even though it’s a mixture of spices. I’ve been putting it on everything from grilled chicken to sweet potato fries with avocado!
    Yum.

  5. Emily says

    March 11, 2013 at 8:35 am

red chili flakes on EVERYTHING. And smoked paprika really takes things up a notch! xo

  8. Mary Beth Elderton says

  9. Justin says

Cayenne pepper gets pretty heavy rotation in my place. However, if not limited to a single spice, I would say a nice Chili powder blend.

Probably salt — I use it the most. Cardamom is great, too.

Hello there old roomie! My favorite spice would have to be celery seed. Random I know. I make a dressing with it that I just love.

  13. Heather! says

    March 11, 2013 at 11:04 am

I seem to use cumin a lot, and it packs a pretty big punch. It can totally change the overall taste of a dish, which is powerful, but it is such a great addition to so many things!

    Thanks!
