After my last run-in with an Asian avocado salad, it’s pretty much a guaranteed order if I see something similar on a menu. And although tonight’s avocado salad was completely different, I enjoyed it just the same.
I ventured to the other side of 23rd Street for the first time in ages to check out a place I had never been before, Boru. And to tell you I was weary when I approached the entrance is an understatement. Loads of paper signs posted on the window reassuring you a place is open, well… it isn’t very reassuring at all.
I could have lived without the eel roll pictured above, but the tuna nigiri met my sushi expectations. The wasabi stuffed center was a nicely welcomed, spicy surprise.
On the way back to the hotel, I stopped and bought a bottle of red to celebrate my last night away from home. For various reasons, I’ve missed home a bunch during this trip.
What do you miss most when you’re away from home?
Gah I’m pretty much always a sucker for avocado anything. I would go nuts for that roll!
Same here!
I LOVE avocado! I literally have to buy 4 of them a week. This looks delicious. When I am away from home, I miss green smoothies and my dog…and my husband too (unless he’s traveling with me that it). 🙂
I missed green EVERYTHING. I went to the grocery store on the way home from the airport and loaded up on produce. I can’t wait for a monster salad 🙂
Yum! That salad looks delish. I hate that avocado is so expensive in FL right now though. PS – I’m glad you get to head home today. Safe travels!
I know! The mini avocados were 2 bucks each! Thank you 🙂
Did you bring me some??? Looks like it will be well worth a drive to Tampa 🙂
It was so yummy, but it was in DC and that would be a REALLY long drive!!
Yep it would have. I was figuring you were coming home the next day and double wrapped it would have survived :0)
Seriously, I get homesick easy even though being home at time drives me crazy! How does that saying go can’t wait to leave but nothing better than to return home?? Anyway, you get idea and it is a real truth for me.
