I wrote about my first Grass Root experience in February, and since then, my friend Caroline and I frequent the place as a mid-day office escape.  I can tell you what we’ll order, ’cause it’s the same every time: Sabrina’s Favorite Sandwich and Everybody Loves Ramen.

Although Caroline stuck with her usual, I was feeling adventurous.  I wasn’t certain how adventurous until the server took my order and the dish that blurted out was not what I had placed my finger on a few moments prior.  Kelp noodle pad thai?  What have I gotten myself into!?

Where food bravery is concerned, I’m a sheep in wolf’s clothing.  Was I ready for this?  I, bold faced but nervous, took my first bite.  I couldn’t help but laugh.  The noodles made the most ridiculous noise when I chewed!  It took a moment to get used to the sound, but soon after, I was golden.  I finished about half before I slammed straight into the fullness wall.

Verdict?  I much prefer Sabrina’s Favorite Sandwich, but I still enjoyed my sea lunch as I thought the restaurant did an excellent job of turning an ethnic favorite into a raw meal. And to top it off, the funny sounding, no carb, gluten-free “noodle” has only 6 calories per serving which, in my mind, rounds straight on down to zero!
