My love for pickles is not at all what sparked the need to make my own.  Rather, I came across this Real Simple recipe and, within a few hours, a similar container at Homegoods and it just seemed like me making pickles was meant to be.

Hands on time = 5 minutes?  There was really nothing to lose.  But, I realized within the first 5 minutes that this recipe was not a 5 minute recipe…

Being somewhere in the middle of a super chopper and a slow chopper, I’d say 15 minutes is a little more accurate for quartering cucumbers, finely slicing onions, crushing garlic, and measuring the rest.

I also don’t think they considered the time it would take to cram the actual recipe in the same sized container for which they conveniently halved the quantity of spears.

Nonetheless, it was simple enough and I look forward to sampling, what appears to be, the science experiment brewing in my fridge in approximately 24 hours.  Fingers are crossed as I would be delighted for this container to replace the dorky stork jar my fridge is accustomed to.

I just tried pickling for the first time. I did dill and jalapenos. I have to wait 6 weeks to see if they turned out.
